Who would have thought that renowned architect Ng Seksan’s rustic, industrial aesthetic could lend so well to a café? V Café takes up the front portion of the Sekeping Victoria guesthouse, and this is undoubtedly one of the most unique cafés in George Town. The open interior, the high ceilings and the scattering of trees create a relaxing environment that’s surprisingly cooling despite the absence of air-conditioning and the heat outside.
While the main draw here may be the Instagram-worthy space, coffee here is commendable. V Café also offers a limited food menu. Big breakfast, muesli and banana pancakes feature alongside salads, burgers and barbecued lamb shoulders. Desserts, however, are confined to ice creams.
