Time Out says

June 2013

There's no denying their wide selection of wines. In fact, they have 800 wine labels from various vineyards of different countries. They're a wine distributor, catering to a large number of retail and wholesale services but right beside the wine store is their wine bar, restaurant and delicatessen serving an extensive range of gourmet meats, sausages and cheeses.

The charming bit is, you can simply buy a bottle from the store and bring it over to the restaurant to drink it with no corkage charges. Their food menu extends to bangers and mash, burgers, pigs in a blanket, pastas such as aglio olio with chorizo and pizzas. Food begins at around RM17+ and a set lunch menu of RM33+ includes 3-course meal for two people.

Aglio olio with chorizo

At RM17+, their aglio olio is generous with the herbs and thick slices of spicy chorizo. The chargrilled beef burger is RM22+ and comes with a heap of French fries with skin on. If you're averse to sweet mayonaisse, it might be an idea to request for none to be spread on their burger bun. To add to the experience, they might even cater to your request of a blue cheese or runny brie instead of the standard sliced cheese they normally have on the burger. Yes, it might cost you a little more but it's well worth it because their burger patty is actually quite good, especially at well done.

However, their cheese platter is the best way to go and also a plate of cold cuts from slices of meats from their deli counter. Between these and some crackers, they'll make a tasty, light meal. Not to mention when coupled with a good pinot noir or chablis. There's an easy, cosy ambience about the place and it's kept very cool in the scorching afternoons. Their service staff is friendly and helpful too, which is a plus! Kitty Kaye
