Shing Kheang Aun has been in existence for more than half a century since its opening during the war period in 1941, with its regular patrons’ loyalty going decades back; and with new customers pouring in by the sheer might of word of mouth. They’re still very much set in their old ways that have, to be fair, never failed them; so expect to see old-school pulleys to lever food from the first to the second, and steep stairs to the second level that families with seniors should avoid. Then again, neither have the positives that made Shing Kheang Aun so successful changed their famous gulai tumis pomfret (traditional Nyonya curry pomfret) and the friendly smile of the owner, Mr Ong.
