The concept of Annalakshmi is so unconventional, it may almost come off as a joke in casual conversation. The food at Annalakshmi is prepared by volunteers and guests are ushered in to their seats before they start on their vegetarian buffet of rice, green vegetables, soup, chapattis, eggs and so on. The part that baffles many first-time diners most is Annalaskhmi’s Swayamvara policy of accepting however much their patrons wish to pay- donations that go into funding the activities of their Temple of Fine Arts. Many have described dining at Annalakshmi as nothing short of a transcendental experience but our humble advice is to first, take note of the semi-formal dress code of the place and also, to return the goodwill of their trust and not make a free meal out of it.
