Embracing culture and history, the pieces of jewellery on display here meld Chinese, Malay and Indo-European form, design and motifs. These pieces were fashioned using diamonds, intan, rubies, sapphires, pearls and jade that were set in gold, silver or sausa. Worn and loved by the Peranakan Chinese Nyonya women, they represent the heydays of Peranakan jewellery surrounded by beauty and wealth. The pieces exhibited here show skillful craftsmanship, along with an extravagance that enhanced the comeliness of the Nyonya. Photography is not encouraged, if not altogether prohibited.
