The museum is housed in an old shop house on Lebuh Armenian that's within George Town's Heritage area. It's a place to go to if you're curious about the history and development of batik painting in Malaysia since 1950s. During the time, Chuah Thean Teng, an artist living in Penang, started to combine his artistic skills with old traditional batik technique that uses dye-resist process in making decorative motifs and designs on fabric. Soon after, other Malaysian artists followed in his footsteps thus creating new techniques and diversified styles. In this museum, there are 70 examples of the craft's evolution including Chuah's early and current pieces.
