Ren i Tang

Right in the heart of Penang's Little India is this hotel and café, Tang Bistro. Their 17 rooms are spacious, minimalist in design with interesting nooks and crannies and done up really well. Old features of the two-storey building that used to house a Chinese medical hall – such as what’s left of walls, windows, doors to nowhere and beams – are restored to its former glory. There are at least four types of rooms here for between RM180 to RM330. You can expect two single beds in a room, king-size bed family room with space for an extra person at an additional of RM40 and a cool double-storey one with a loft. Location wise, this hotel’s very central and situated in a terrific spot within the UNESCO world heritage site of George Town, ideal to watch the goings-on in Little India and within a stone’s throw of Penang's sight-seeing attractions. Bear in mind and be relieved to know that little of the clatter and noise from below seep into their sleeping quarters.
