Sometimes referred as the Sri Muthu Mariamman or the Sri Arulmigu, this is Penang’s oldest Hindu temple and is filled with fascinating sculptures of gods and goddesses. Among the many statues in this ornate building is the statue of Lord Subramaniam –richly decorated with gold, silver, diamonds and emeralds and it is thi very statue that is taken on a chariot procession during the annual Thaipusam festival.
