Since 2004, non-profit social initiative TEREM has trained many hundreds of jobless citizens in commerce and customer service, with outlets such as the ‘Boutique Pédagogique' ('teaching boutique') on the Rue Maroc serving both as fully-functioning shops and as apprenticeship centres. Focusing on toys for babies and young children (mostly under €5), the good condition second-hand stock here spans classics like small toy cars, music boxes and colourful xylophones (€3). Far from being overcrowded with potential presents, the shop floor is relatively sparse, its shelves very carefully stocked with not just toys, but also a few special deli products (chocolate, wine and more).
