Saperlipôpette set up shop in 2013, in an old charcuterie on Rue de Capitaine Dreyfus in Montreuil. It’s a thrift shop that will appeal primarily to parents of young children (for its impressive selection of clothing) and to those who wax nostalgic for their own childhoods (for its wide array of ’90s knick-knacks).
The shop sells quality second hand kids clothing at appealing prices: €12 for a girl’s dress (age 6-8) and €15 for boys’ trousers (age 12-14). Adults will also enjoy browsing the shelves of ’90s-era relics: Lisa Frank school supplies, VHS cassettes, bubble gum and board games. Hipper shoppers needn’t fret; Saperlipôpette also carries more trendy, of-the-moment merchandise, including a line of artisanal jewellery, Les Bijoux de Cécile, created by a local Montreuil jeweller.
The space is exceptionally well laid out – the charcuterie’s tiles and display counter have been preserved to great effect. Those mulling over a purchase or waiting on a companion can grab a coffee from the Italian restaurant on the corner and take in some sun on the shop’s patio.
