Appropriately located in the former abode of chic 18th century courtesan Madame de Pompadour, the team behind Paulie and Me call their project an ‘incubation store’: a platform for up-and-coming designers and jewellers. Around 15 or so diverse collections of jewellery, leather, shoes and clothing are exhibited for periods of three to six months at a time, with often stunning items available for both men and women.
In Autumn 2015, for example, accessories for women include Coco Roca’s colourful and delicate Japanese pearl work (around €130 for a bracelet), gold and brown jewellery by ‘bollychic’ brand Bangle Up and Maison Passage’s arty shawls in cashmere and rayon (around €240). For men, an attractive (if expensive) range of 100% fair-trade ‘Be Parisian’ t-shirts (€45 for the most basic).
