Originally ‘Champagne et Collections’, owner Orlando Lacoffe has kept the spirit of the old store in its new incarnation as Du Vin et des Bulles – one of the best-stocked places in Paris for special-occasion bottles. The cave holds between 150 and 180 types of champagne, and over 700 wines and spirits in total. It concentrates on small and organic prducers, with a strong commitment to sustainable agriculture. Every third Thursday of the month, there are free tastings.
The shelves include the big names, of course: Drappier, Ruinart, Cristal and the rest. But allow yourself to be guided towards less well-known delights, better priced and just as good: A magnum of Jacquesson at €95, or a Dosnon-Lepage at €34 a bottle. House recommendations for bargains include a Gimonnet-Gonet, Côte des Blancs, 100% Chardonnay (€19) and a Moutardier Pinot-Meunier (€22).
What’s more, the boutique is busy developing a deli section for foie gras and other luxuries to go with your champagne. Cheers!
