Cuisse de Grenouille is a French brand best known for their ‘Surfin In The Cities’ range of sweatshirts. Founding brothers Lucas and Séverin are all about adapting surfer style to city life, inspired by Californian beaches and the French Riviera. Walk into the chic Haut Marais store and you find yourself, appropriately, inside what appears to be a whale skeleton (relax, it’s made of wood). There’s also a discreet counter serving coffees from Coutume.
From its shirts and denim to its surf suits and accessories, everything in the store is made in Europe, primarily in Portugal. We spotted corduroy trousers for under €50, a sweatshirt branded ‘Téléski’ for €125 and cashmere ties between €60 and €110. The store also stocks Taschen and New York Times travel guides to take with you on vacation, along with the surfboards and water-repelling jackets you could only use outside the city.
