If dépôts-vente had a queen, it would probably be Chercheminippes, whose sign in the Rue de la Cherche-Midi has been there for more than four decades. Today, Chercheminippes boasts no fewer than six shops, each in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, each with a specific focus. The first offers ready-to-wear – from Agnès B to Comptoirs des Cotonniers via Antik Batik. Several metres along the road is a second space dedicated to big names like Kenzo and Dior.
Then there's the bloke's bit, with Burberry, Fred Perry and other brands on offer for the savvy gentleman shopper. At no. 110 is the kids section, with brands from Petit Bateau to Baby Dior on offer. The kids shop also offers nursery products, books and CDs. The final two boutiques are devoted to accessories and home decoration. There are some wonderful finds on offer in this Aladdin’s cave, especially if you are prepared to rummage and have the patience to deal with the crowds.
