Much to the delight of its faithful clientele, friendly Belleville bar Les Triplettes ambitiously branched out in summer 2016, opening up a Neopolitan pizzeria a little further along the Boulevard de Belleville. With its cosy teak wood terrace and rural cottage-like straw roofing, immense pizza oven, intricate floor tiles, mini round bistro tables and colourful, formica-lined chairs, the new address – inventively christened ‘Tripletta’ – screams charm and elegance pretty much everywhere you look.
The pizzas are pretty charming too, with their thick, light yet fondant, Neopolitan bases, topped with nothing but top-quality Italian produce (prices range from €9-€17). The utterly brilliant house ‘Tripletta’, for example, combines corbarino tomatoes with fior di latte cheese from Agerola, spicy spianata calabra sausage, ’nduja di Spilinga (a piquant pork pâté) and green chillis. For dessert, the ‘Nicciolata’ focaccia (essentially a super-doughy pizza base stuffed with nutella) is a decadent choice, sure, but we’ll definitely be having it again.
