Till recently, those fresh off the train at the Gare de l'Est would've been hard pressed to find a decent meal in the area. But now, nestled among the Kurdish eateries and iffy Indian curry houses, there's a small Mexican restaurant that's worth a detour. From the outside it doesn't look like much; but once you cop an eyeful of the generous portions, friendly staff and friendlier prices, you'll thank us.
The pan-Latin American menu includes everything from burritos, tacos and empañadas to chili con carne and fajitas. It's all eminently edible in a satisfyingly fast-foody kind of way, even if the tortilla was a little over-cooked to our taste. When we asked the owner if they ran a delivery service, he said that he'd tried it, but the delivery guys weren't professional enough. Fortunately for those who don't live in the area, he hasn't completely abandoned the idea – but next time round, he's planning to deliver the food himself. We'll be the first to place an order.
