Junk food is as on-trend as health food in Paris, as long as it combines top quality ingredients with a good-looking venue. Grilled Cheese Factory ticks all these boxes, offering a range of high-end sarnies featuring things like bacon with barbecue sauce, tuna with peppers, spinach and balsamic sauce, or smoked salmon in addition to various cheese feasts. High-calorie American comfort food made with regional French produce and market-fresh ingredients, basically. We tried – and enjoyed – a ‘Fabrication Pastrami’, a fat number overflowing with mozzarella, cheddar, Abondance cheese, pickles and honey mustard. Equally outrageous is the ‘Mac & Cheese’, which is indeed a grilled sandwich of butter-cooked macaroni and cheese. Luckily, you can order half portions with salad or soup. Top it all off with the house tomato sauce, and you’re nothing if not well fuelled. There’s also a slightly lighter veggie version, with mozzarella, peppers, tomato confit and pesto for the faint of heart.
