People who stop in at this little shop in the Marais, lured by the unbeatable scent of roast chicken, almost always come back. And how could they not, when the roasts are of such quality? Before they ended on the spit, these tasty birds were raised ranging freely about the woods at Landes, making for plump, meaty thighs.
Come at lunchtime for the chicken quarters, fresh mixed vegetables and impeccable gratin dauphinois, all to take away for about €9. The rotisserie also offers ribs (with a choice of soy sauce and coriander or barbecue sauce), sausages, homemade soups and salads. If you pass by at night on an empty stomach, the savoury aroma and the crowd pressing in for the day’s last roasts (around €15 a piece, depending on the size) are sure to send any cooking plans right out the window.
All the rotisserie’s products are free range and of a certified origin. The shop even partners with a small Landais vendor, selling foie gras, cheese, charcuterie and condiments, including a delicious truffle mustard. A second branch can be found at 7 Rue Cadet, in the 9th arrondissement.
