From the delicately spiced red lentil soup with bulgur wheat and herbs (maybe a little on the salty side, but absolutely worth the €6), to their perfectly smoky baba ganoush, tabbouleh and delicious shawarma, this is good, colourful Lebanese food. The sandwiches are another great option at €5 each: we tried the “sandwich barbare”, a delicious combination of melt-in-the-mouth kebab, vegetables, hummus and tender potatoes, all encased in a fine pitta. Their airy Lebanese flan, flavoured with orange blossom and scattered with pistachio shavings, rounds the meal off perfectly.
Everything is tasty and fresh, servings are very generous and, while the seasoning is more ‘trendy, urban street food’ than typically Mediterranean, the quality is there and the combinations work marvellously together.
Bulgur – dried cracked wheat, commonly used in Middle Eastern cuisine
