Situated around the corner from our offices, Les Marmites Volantes has brought us no end of joy since we discovered it. This snug canteen offers everything you need on your lunch break: small, digestible dishes packed with flavour; an inviting space in which you share your table with other diners; affordable three-course menus (€12.50-14.50); and wonderfully friendly service.
The food varies according to the season. In winter, we're talking soups, tagines and shepherd's pies, followed by the usual dessert suspects: rice pudding, tarts and panna cotta. The sweet and simple recipes are worth the trip in themselves, but the good news is that you don't have to – the 'flying cauldrons' of the name refer to the restaurant's delivery service, which extends to most of the right bank. What more could you ask for?
