Craving chicken? Grandma’s roast is out, Gallina’s “poulet-purée” is in. From the brains behind Sunken Chip and Cream, comes a new restaurant on the trendy Canal Saint-Martin.
With chicken from the Bearn and Dordogne poultry farms, the menu promises high quality meat – and it delivers. Their succulent, flavoursome chicken is best enjoyed as part of the lunchtime ‘formule’ - either a quarter-chicken or a beautiful chicken sandwich with homemade bread, mayonnaise and piccalilli. The sides are just as good: crispy, golden roast potatoes and macaroni cheese with Mornay sauce, sprinkled with breadcrumbs. Their corn on the cob is another favourite, cooked in butter and smothered in barbecue sauce. It burns…but in a good way. Those not so into chicken can opt for suckling pig (although it has to be ordered a week in advance) or a salad.
And an added bonus - in the evenings, it becomes a cocktail bar where you can happily sip on an after-dinner negroni – perfect.
