The hotly anticipated address from Michelin-starred chef Jean-François Piège, Clover Grill, has arrived at last – and we could barely contain our excitement. This den-like space, complete with a marble bar and huge open kitchen, specialises in wood-fired or spit-roasted meat, but there’s also fish, lobster and shrimp.
Starting off lightly, we share a grilled terrine of duck foie gras with clementine jelly, followed by the star of the show: a side of wood-smoked noire de Baltique beef (€58), with goose-fat roasted potatoes and the house Béarnaise sauce. But in truth, the meat is good enough to be eaten alone, 'bareback' as it were. It’s plump, melt-in-the-mouth, perfectly pink and surrounded by a rich, delicious fat...we’re salivating just thinking about it. One thing’s for sure, if we had to choose our last meal on earth, it would be this. Thank you Monsieur Piège, for making all of our meaty dreams come true.
