Fortunately, the welcome at Clint is far warmer than you might expect for a place named after the man behind Dirty Harry. Instead, this café, restaurant and épicerie (the room is lined with shelves of foodie products) is lively and full of light, whose main relationship with the four-time Oscar winner is its eclecticism.
The big bay window, light wood tables and chairs painted in pastel colours create a relaxed, contemporary urban atmosphere. The open kitchen serves a daily-changing menu at lunchtime (€15-€18) – we loved the generous seasonal vegetable soup with squash and parsnip, followed by haddock on a bed of firm red lentils. For dessert, the café gourmand came with taster portions of crumble, vanilla and cinnamon panna cotta, and light-as-air cheesecake. The cheerful atmosphere, well-designed space and heartening cooking all make Clint an instant favourite – we'll be back for breakfast and dinner, too.
