Café Milou

Being popular with the in crowd isn’t always a mark of good service. Montparnasse’s Café Milou is a sweet bar and bistro on the Rue du Maine with a warm wooden décor, which for some reason lacks the reputation of the flashy Café Tournesol just nearby. And happily for its clients – if there aren’t as many trendily-dressed drinkers propping up the bar, there’s the benefits of smiling staff who’ll take the time to chat. Red wine stains and hearty classic dishes are in vogue here – tartares, gratins, charcuterie boards and cheeses – everything to put you at your ease. Locals in the know come here year round to enjoy Corsican cocktails and the recently enlarged terrace. It’s well worth pushing your suitcase the extra few steps to enjoy a warm welcome while waiting for your TGV.
