With five outlets across the Right Bank, Ari’s stands out from the Paris bagel crowd thanks to the quality of its bread. Perfectly toasted on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, whatever variety you go for (onion, sesame, multi-seed), the bagel is as much a pleasure as the filling. But those are good too: we recommend the original house ‘Ari’s Bagel’, with its canny combo of pastrami, cheddar, honey mustard and crispy fried onions. Other standout flavours include the French-themed ‘Raclette’, with potato, raclette cheese, Grisons beef, onion and gherkins. Vegetarians luck out, though, with the bestselling ‘Big Chevrowski’: fig jam, pecans, goat cheese and rocket make for a memorable lunch.
There’s a complicated array of set menus, but you can generally get yourself a bagel and a drink for €7-€9 – or with a dessert for €10-€12. Desserts include homemade banana nut cake, pecan pie, key lime pie and – if you’ve got room for more bread – sweet bagels with speculoos spread, peanut butter, Nutella or marshmallow fluff. The service is quick and efficient, making Ari’s a great place to come for an easy, warming weekday lunch.
