After the atrocities of Friday 13 November 2015, Bataclan opened on Thursday 24 November 2016, with a full programme of musical events. Laurent Garnier, pioneer of the French techno scene and Arnaud Rebotini, founder of the group Black Strobe, reopened the theatre, joined by DJ Voiron and Gordon. This was a symbolic evening which put music and joy centre stage, and French artists in the spotlight.
This distinctive venue, fashioned like a Chinese pagoda with a distinctive multi-coloured façade, first opened in 1864 and remains admirably discerning in its booking of rock, world, jazz and hip hop acts.
