Molitor Hôtel & Spa
This impressive mustard-yellow monolith has a grand cultural history. It was here in 1946 that the bikini was born and, later, where some of the most cult rave parties in Paris were organised. The space has metamorphosised from a municipal swimming pool to a temple of underground music and street art. Now, Molitor has transformed it into a five-star resort. It’s now home to a Clarins’ spa, a gym, a yoga club, and various pools including an impressive 48-meter-long outdoor swim spot. The 124 Art Deco rooms are filled with numerous works of art and there are clever nods to Molitor’s past throughout the place, including a magnificent Rolls-Royce Corniche on the entrance carpet redecorated by a certain JonOne.
Where is it? This urban resort is deep in the heart of Paris’s chic 16th district, just a quick walk away from the Bois de Boulogne and Jardin des Serres d’Auteuil.
Which room? Bag a bed with a pool view to see the building in all its magnificence.
Time Out tip: Take a dip in the beautifully restored 1930s indoor pool and keep an eye out for original stained glass images of bathers from the pool’s 1929 heyday.
