Named after the famous ‘Chat Noir’ cabaret that used to be in its place, this hotel has taken the theme and run with it. It’s about as retro as it gets, but the superstitious might want stay away, as there’s a black cat on every floor. On the first floor you’ll find the common room, which sets the tone of the rest of the hotel  cosy and warm, thanks to large tables, sofas and beautiful natural light. You can come for breakfast or just to have a drink among the melange of businessmen, tourists recharging their batteries and those brave enough to have walked the stairs of the Butte.

We love the mix of modernity and vintage in each of the 39 rooms and although the cabaret vibe is ever-present, it’s discreet and perfectly executed. Spacious and soundproofed, the rooms are their own little bubbles. With this cosy cocoon as a base, you can have fun on the small balcony, watching life go by at a hundred miles an hour on one of the busiest streets in the capital. And for the lucky ones, a bathtub which sits proudly in the middle of an immaculate bathroom, next to huge windows for admiring the views.

A duplex apartment room includes, downstairs, a bright room with linen sheets in light colours, a dizzying library and a stellar toilet. Upstairs, the bay windows offer a 360 degree panoramic view over the breathtaking Paris skyline  a perfect view of both the Eiffel Tower and the Sacré-Cœur. What with all the vintage furniture and arty knick-knacks, you could be in a trendy concept store. Shoots, filming, brand launches, business dinners, private parties, wedding nights...renting this place is sure to tick your every box. From up here, Paris is most definitely a party.
