This fifth arrondissement hotel reopened after years of renovation work, welcoming guests to 55 rue Monge with a new style – a 19th century bourgeois house with interlinking rooms, Hungarian parquet flooring, mouldings, Carrara marble fireplaces, antique furniture and Deyrolle tropical wallpaper: the work of dynamic design duo Marie-Agnès Louboutin and Patrice Henry.
Upstairs, the 30 rooms in this 4-star establishment carry on in the same vein – sophisticated details with beautiful exotic wallpaper above the headboards. Bright and comfortable, the rooms offer a great view onto the Latin Quarter. With pluses like the afternoon tea offering, an honesty bar from the early evening until midnight, the wellness area and the all-day hammam – it’s difficult to pull yourself away from this little gem. The French breakfast was a little disappointing but with such friendly staff, we can hardly complain.
