This typically Parisian hotel is located in the centre of the city on the tiny rue Buffault and just a few steps from rue du Faubourg Montmartre, it has 71 rooms and looks onto the Parisian rooftops.
It's the perfect pied à terre for tourists and travellers who want to make the most of the city in a comfortable, well-situated (it’s five minutes from Grands Boulevards and ten from les grands magasins), with careful, original decor. From the textured wallpaper to the heavy brown curtains, no detail has been left to chance – not even the colour of the toilet bowls. It’s a harmonious mixture which exudes plushness – think of it as Parisian with a British undertone. You can imagine reading Oscar Wilde while tending to your plants in these cosy rooms.
Once you’ve finished pretending to be in a Sherlock Holmes novel, stop by the hotel bar on the ground floor. We’re taken by the “honesty bar” idea here – there’s no barman, you serve yourself at the bar and at the end of the evening, you let them know your drinks by filling in a form. Like a minibar on a grander scale, this is fantastically user-friendly especially when the place starts to fill up and the wine is flowing.
The restaurant-bar also offers two breakfast menus (the €13 Frivole and the €19 Cabotin). Eugene en Ville also offers a selection of massages and treatments by Olivier Lecocq in a relaxation room. There’s a free steam room or sauna session for anyone who’s reserved a suite – which in winter, is the perfect plus.
