As you enter Hotel Bachaumont, expect to be drawn to the monumental entrance: a wrought iron porch, with Carrara marble and mouldings. Decor is modern with retro details; an art decor universe created by the queen of this genre, architect Dorothée Meilichzon – who has also worked her magic on the Prescription Cocktail Club, Hotel Panache and the stunning Hotel Paradis.
Housed in a magnificent Haussmanian building, it’s a short walk from Les Halles and was completely transformed after three years of work and reopened in 2015. Pierre Fey fabric headboards, big mirrors, emerald mosaics and gilt appliqué are key features in the Bachaumont’s 49 very Parisian rooms.
Ranging from 17 to 50m2, rooms are harmonised with four colour palettes, and boast bright open-plan bathrooms, custom-made marble and wooden desks, Stilnovo lamps and wonderfully fragrant atmospheres. They have given classic Parisian style a contemporary twist to bring it in line with the neighbourhood. The hotel restaurant and Night Flight (the ground floor bar from the Experimental Group) is all elegant curves, and a candlelit drink on the velvet copper benches is guaranteed to make your stay extra special. Hotel Bachaumont is a lesson in sophistication.
