This friendly, family-run hotel has embraced Saint-Germain's cultural heritage with gusto, creating a stylish literature-themed arrangement over five floors. The outside of the building is strikingly decorated with a tree silhouette; inside, each room is carefully done out with artwork related to books, printing, letters and so on. Each room has its own theme, ranging from calligraphy to music, in a way that is endearing without being intrusive. The most luxurious 'balnéo' rooms have deep whirlpool baths, while other rooms have funky multi-jet power showers.
The Apostrophe is in the Vavin neighbourhood – still the 6th, but without the pomp of central Saint-Germain, and none the worse for that. The neighbourhood buzzes with great (and affordable) restaurants, and all the main sites are still within easy reach – particulary Saint-Germain, the Tour du Montparnasse, and events in southwest Paris like the annual Salon du Livre. The feeling in the hotel is that there's a real attention to guests' comfort – you can even get breakfast delivered to your room for no extra charge, though the little downstairs salon is a perfectly nice way to start your day as well.
Great for families, couples and solo travellers who want a boutique hotel that's both characterful and down to earth, with a taste for all things literary to boot.
