Déesses et démones

The Théâtre des Champs Élysées has put on a great spread this season with superb productions from Mats Ek, Sylvie Guillem and this stunning new collaboration between Marie-Agnès Gillot and Bianca Li. For this December series, the pair have come up with ‘Déesses et Démones’ (‘Goddesses and Demons’) and promise, ‘just like in Greek legend, to veer from cooperating to doing battle, metamorphosing into demons or benevolent divinities at will in order to alter the destiny of humans, sowing power, joy and energy all around them’. Opéra de Paris star Gillot’s smooth moves are the perfect complement to the more spirited gestures of Li, and so, from start to finish, it’s a wonderful meeting of minds.
