Formerly a hostess bar, Pile ou Face has retained much of its kinky decor. Small and intimate, the velvet seats, dim lighting and pole dance bars leave just enough room for the clientele to dance to nu-disco, rock or electro-pop tunes.
Cocktails are the highlight of Pile ou Face, priced between €6 and €11. We tried a mojito and one of the house specials, a Kim (Botanist gin, homemade thyme syrup, pepper), both of which were flavoursome and agreeably strong. A whole second menu is devoted to whisky, and if you can’t settle on one then try out a series by opting for the €20 tasting menu. If the packet of crisps that comes with your cocktail works up an appetite, then the bartender can call a local restaurant and have a waiter run over with a platter of cheese and cold meat cuts for just €16.
