In the neo-trendy area of South Pigalle (also known as SoPi), this bistro proposes the charitable donation of €1 per cocktail purchased. So by spending €13 on a drink, you’re helping the homeless, training guide dogs for the blind or saving animals in distress.
We oggle at the classy wooden decor, sophisticated bar and suspended lightbulbs. The cosy atmosphere makes it the perfect place to chat quietly over a glass or two. As for drinks, the selection is as expansive as the price differentiation – cocktails range from €8 to €13. Start off with the Smith (thyme-infused vodka with apple juice, hazelnut syrup and celery bitters). It’s a refreshing, zingy mix – almost like a boozy smoothie. Next up, the delicious 1701 (whisky, artichoke liqueur, freshly squeezed lemon, homemade vanilla syrup and sesame seeds).
The frequently changing small-plates menu is good way to soak up the drinks. While the aubergine caviar is overly sweet and overpowered by the taste of olives, the red pepper tapenade is divine. Even better: on Wednesdays, a buffet is offered with any purchase of an alcoholic cocktail. Before leaving, we get given a shot for the road – proof that Les Justes is built upon generosity.
