A chic hangout that opened on the Place Thorigny in autumn 2013, Le Wood is all about beautiful people clutching pricy cocktails – around €12 a throw (we liked the Sherwood, with raspberry purée and gin), €7 for a pint. But even if not cut out as a venue for affordable obliteration, the wood-lined walls and multiple little corners of the bar make it an unusually nice place to hang out. Choose between a little table tucked away in a corner hidden from the crowds, or the huge overstuffed sofa for lounging on with friends, or the high tables that are perfect for snacking on cheese platters (featuring a famous green gouda with wasabi) with a nice wine. But the cinch is the sublime veranda, with its terrace bathed in sunlight on good days. It makes the perfect place for a weekend brunch (an all-you-can-eat buffet for €25), or to finish the day with your feet up.
