Towards the end of Oberkamp, away from the hubbub of the busy streets, there's a place with an atmosphere of times-gone-by. This neighbourhood bar - Le Petit Bal perdu - has something that we don't see that often anymore. Children playing in the road, wraught-iron tables spilling onto the street.
The menu filled with snacking dishes has our stomachs grumbling: radishes with rock salt, a mini (but devilish) pork burger, mini fish (without the chips) accompanied by a tasty tartare sauce, crunchy prawns with a Thai sauce. Everything is good, homemade and cheap enough that you can go all out!
To whet our whistles we have a glass of pays d'Oc rosé (€3 in happy hour) or if you want to stay local have a pint of Demory or Belle Rose beer (€8 or €7 for 50cl). At the end of our picnic, the tables are filling up and we chat happily with the waitress, then the owner persuades us into having a cognac with him. It's simple, good and happy.
