When the sun’s out, this classy rooftop bar feels like a fancy Greek seaside resort, with its white parquet floor, blue tables, striped cushions, live DJ, decorated trees and panoramic backdrop with views of the Hôtel de Ville and the Eiffel tower. The Perchoir Marais has built up a reputation for long queues since opening back in 2014, but if you come down late (say, after 9pm) you’ll probably avoid the worst of the crowds. The clientele include the kind of wealthy folk who shop in the nearby BHV department store, plus an excessive number of bouncers and staff reining them all in. It’s not unpleasant company, but it’s not exactly rock ‘n’ roll.
Drinks are a mixed bag, with cocktails like the ‘Green Giant’ (absinthe, cucumber, green chartreuse, lime) comfortably mediocre, but they’re decently priced at around €12 each. Still, it’s safer to opt for a beer (a Pietra costs just €7). Even if the drinks aren’t very original, stunning views and friendly waiters mean this an impressive spot to bring a friend, lover or visitor to the city.
