Design makes a stylish comeback at Paris Design Week! As part of the event, the best of design sneaks into some of the most stunning settings of the capital: from private courtyards, galleries and secret gardens, to the exclusive boardroom of Galeries Lafayette Champs-Elysées. For the third year in a row, the iconic department store is offering rare access to what was once the prestigious boardroom of the First National City Bank—an opulent wood-panelled space now transformed into a precious cabinet of curiosities. Open until September 15th, visitors can discover the glass artworks of Atelier George alongside the sacred jewelry of Katarzyna Cichy.
Reflections of Art
The exhibition, titled Matter, is open to the public free of charge from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day. For the occasion, the artists have reimagined four distinct themes —The Last Supper, the cabinet of curiosities, the path, and the temple—where visitors are invited to wander and lose themselves in the shimmering reflections of glass, silver, and precious stones.
And the pieces on display The blown-glass sculptures and objects of Eve George, co-founder of Atelier George, a glassblowing workshop producing unique handmade pieces, and the jewellery of young Polish designer Katarzyna Cichy, whose work blends minerality with spirituality. Both artists, alumni of the prestigious Ateliers de Paris (under the guidance of the Bureau of Design, Fashion, and Craft), perfectly embody the richness of French craftsmanship.
