Every Lego lover, young and old, will enjoy an afternoon at Osaka’s Legoland Discovery Centre, which is conveniently located near other large attractions such as the Kaiyukan aquarium and Universal Studios Japan. The Osaka outpost is a smaller version of Nagoya’s Legoland Resort but still has enough activities to entertain the little ones for hours.
There are three rides – the magical Kingdom Quest, Merlin’s Apprentice and the VR Great Lego Race – in addition to playrooms where children can build Legos to their heart’s content. Don’t miss Mini Land, a miniature display of Osaka made with over 1.5 million bricks, where you’ll see some familiar landmarks. Younger visitors can practise their inner architect at the Duplo Farm, which uses larger Lego bricks for children under five, and the Lego City Play Zone playground.
Booking tickets at least 24 hours in advance online is recommended – it will guarantee admission and will also knock ¥1,000 off the ticket price. Do note that adults must be accompanied by children, although Legoland Discovery Centre hosts ‘adults only’ nights one Friday per month.
