Cultural icon Yoko Ono is celebrating her 92nd birthday this year, and to celebrate, the Park Avenue Armory is hosting a weekend-long celebration of the revolutionary artist-activist from Friday, February 14 through Monday, February 17.
Attendees can explore the largest North American installation of Yoko Ono's Wish Tree in the Wade Thompson Drill Hall, featuring a grove of 92 trees to honor Ono’s 92 years. (Free with RSVP, the installation includes access to screening and listening rooms.) A Dream You Dream Together - A Symposium Celebrating Yoko Ono will spotlight Yoko’s enduring legacy of arts activism with panels and performances from artists, scholars, writers and activists, including NPR music critic Ann Powers and environmental artist Maya Lin. And a pair of tribute concerts will feature live performances by electronic music duo Matmos, who will interpret selections from Ono's 1964 record Grapefruit, and vocalist Alicia Hall Moran, who will take on Ono's 1981 song "Walking on Thin Ice.”
