WHOOP DEE DOO, an artist-led project that creates installations and live performances through museums, galleries, arts organizations, festivals and universities, isn't just celebrating Halloween with its Haunted Bingo Fundraiser on Sunday, October 22—it's also celebrating the opening of its first-ever physical programming space in New York City.
At 141 Bridge Park Drive in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, the fundraiser will include a live variety show featuring performances by traditional Korean drummer and dancer Vong Pake, performance artist Joseph Kekler and the young adult artists from Red Hook Art Projects. Along with the spooky performances, attendees can participate in festive games like haunted bingo, win great prizes during contests, and enjoy snacks and boba tea from Local Roots and non-alcoholic wine from NON.
There are three showtimes, with the 3pm option being the most family-friendly of the trio; there is also a 5pm show and a 7pm session. Tickets to the early showtime cost $28.52 for adults and $12.51 for children above the age of five; entry for the later, more adult sessions costs $44.52 per ticket.
It is the first time since WHOOP DEE DOO was founded in 2006 that the organization has charged for an event; proceeds will benefit free arts programming for children, teens and older adults in Brooklyn.
