It’s been only 16 years since we watched Jack teach Rose to fly, but 101 years since the real RMS Titanic hit an iceberg—it sank the following day, on April 15, 1912. The vessel was en route to New York when the tragedy occurred; visit local sites associated with the ship on two weekend walking tours. Saturday’s sojourn takes place in lower Manhattan, where the Titanic Memorial Lighthouse and the former headquarters of the company that owned the ship are located. Sunday’s focus is on Greenwich Village, where you can visit the Titanic Memorial Arch as well as the seaman’s lodge (now the Jane Hotel) where some of the survivors stayed. Call Discovery Walking Tours on 212-465-3331 for reservations and location.
