Who says opera’s not for kids? To celebrate the holiday season as well as the Metropolitan Opera’s performances of Mozart’s The Magic Flute running now through December 30, the Grand Tier Restaurant is launching a special children’s menu inspired by the famous fairytale.
The whimsical three-course spread, which will be available for both matinee and evening shows, will include dishes like a Mozart’s Salad with poached pears, a Papgeno’s Chicken with mushroom sauce and mashed potatoes, and a Queen of the Night Chocolate Mousse with a crème chantilly and strawberries.
"The holidays are a magical time at the Met Opera," said Florian Wehrli, the Grand Tier’s executive chef. "I can’t wait to have an audience of kids coming to the Grand Tier. It’s very rewarding to cook for young palates and also introduce them to this iconic New York cultural destination."
