This long-running series showcases the works of up-and-coming filmmakers in a variety of creative locales—beaches, warehouse complexes, plazas, high schools, cemeteries and, obviously, rooftops. Now, it presents the Queens Drive-In — opening Friday, August 14, behind NYSCI in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
Friday's screening will be The Last Out, the moving new documentary about three young Cuban baseball players who leave their families and risk exile to train in Central America and chase their dreams of playing in the Major Leagues. Filmed over more than four years, The Last Out tells the very human story of people caught between countries who want nothing more than to make a better life for their families.
