As part of Oktoberfest, Time Out New York held its first OystoberFest, a night with unlimited oysters, beer and cocktails. When entering the full-to-capacity venue, guests were greeted with wine from drosengarten.com and refreshing citrus-infused Finlandia vodka cocktails. With over 12 different shells, ten different types of Blue Point beer and sausages from Schaller & Weber, the event was a true success. In the midst of the click of the empty shells as they were dumped in large buckets, guests were heard describing the texture, flavor and region of the oysters. This oyster-loving community was a diverse crowd celebrating the history, culture, cuisine, economy and ecology of New York. The night’s big hit were the surprise oysters from New Zealand—a perfect treat!
