Time Out says

Queens College's commemoration will celebrate King’s legacy in special presentation on Sunday, January 15. The event will evoke King's May 13, 1965, appearance as the inaugural speaker in the college’s John F. Kennedy Memorial Lecture Series, where he emphasized the power of peaceful resistance in his address to students.

This year's event will honor Jelani Cobb, dean of Columbia Journalism School and staff writer for The New Yorker. He's written books including "The Substance of Hope: Barack Obama and the Paradox of Progress" and "To the Break of Dawn: A Freestyle on the Hip Hop Aesthetic."

Grammy-nominated jazz singer Samara Joy will perform. She's credited with introducing jazz standards to a new generation.
