Bruce Springsteen’s post-9/11 ballad “The Rising” came in at a strong 37 in our 100 Best NYC Songs list in March. CUNY professor Marc Dolan (author of Bruce Springsteen and the Promise of Rock ’n’ Roll) tells the story behind the album and its title-track. He also shows clips from the coinciding tour, including a performance outside the American Museum of Natural History for the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards.
