Time Out says

If you’re looking for a unique and creative experience, look no further than the jewelry making workshops with artist Carolina Iwanow. Located in Brooklyn, the NYC Jewelry Lab is an excellent spot for anyone interested in learning to learn more about hand-crafting their own jewelry. In her Art of Metalsmithing workshop, Iwanow teaches students how to think like a jeweler and use various materials, including copper, sterling silver, gold, and brass. She also guides students through essential jewelry-making processes like stone setting, chain making, ring sizing, and soldering. The course also covers industry-standard recycling and manufacturing practices, and students are encouraged to let their creativity run wild and experiment with wherever their imagination takes them.

This workshop is available in sets of five, ten, or 20 classes. Which course you select depends on your budget, schedule, and how much you hope to learn about the art of metalsmithing. Carolina provides a certificate of completion to everyone who attends. Students are also able to take home whatever they make. It’s important to note that materials are provided for the first session, but students must purchase their own materials for all subsequent sessions. A list of recommended supplies will also be shared on the first day of class.

In addition to her metalsmithing courses, Carolina also offers a number of private events at her workshop. These include a Jewelry Party for small groups, a private online jewelry-making class, and a workshop where couples can make their own wedding bands together. Students who have attended courses at NYC Jewelry Lab report that the class is an excellent introduction to metalsmithing for beginners. Many students especially enjoyed the hands-on nature of the course. Carolina is described as patient, attentive, and informative. Her passion and enthusiasm for the art of making jewelry is contagious, and students felt encouraged and supported to step outside their comfort zones.
