Join the underground voices of the self-publishing scene for a day that showcases artists and zine makers whose work reflects the tenets of gender equality. More than 50 shops and individuals, like Brown Recluse Zine Distro, Library Freedom Project, and PMS Babydoll, set up tables where you can stock up on their powerful pamphlets.
If you're new to zines, here's how Zine Fest describes the medium: "Zines are the voices of those who thrive beyond and outside of the margins. Where ideas erased from traditional media live on." Some zines look like pages out of a diary, others are covered with stickers. Some are collaged and deeply personal and one even contained real toenail clippings inside.
Find NYC Feminist Zinefest at Barnard College on Saturday, April 6. Head to the fourth floor of Barnard Hall.
